Today my husband, our five children, and I went to several yard sales. We left at 8:30 in the morning and didn’t get home until around noon. It was a lot of fun and the good news was that we didn’t spend a lot of money.
We don’t go to yard sales very often because we live out in the country where there usually aren’t any. However, this weekend there is a nearby festival so there were quite a few within a few miles of our home.
We hit the motherboard when it came to finding good deals on children’s books that were all in excellent condition. Here is what we found.
We purchased Curious George Takes a Job, Owl Babies
, Frog and Toad Together
, and Paul Bunyan
for 25 cents each. Five Silly Monkeys
, First Bible Story Book
, and Neighborhood Animals
were each 5 cents.
We also found some chapter books. Stuart Little was 25 cents. We found another yard sale where we purchased 5 books for $1, so we ended up with 10 new-to-us books for $2. Ellen Tebbits
, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
, Henry and the Paper Route
, Ramona’s World
, Matilda
, Boy
, Treasure Island
, Daniel Boone
, Journey to the Center of the Earth
, and The Secret of Mirror Bay
(My 12 1/2 year old loves Nancy Drew novels.) were the books we ended up bringing home.
Our grand total for 18 books was $3.40. Score! Yard sales and thrift stores are excellent places to find books to add to your collection. Do you like going to yard sales? Have you found any good deals this year on books or items for children?
While I know that this post shows all of the books I purchased at yard sales very inexpensively, I have included my Amazon links so that you could know more about the books. Thanks for supporting this site.
