I just realized that I never posted about the lapbooks my son and I made for the letters C and D. I am obviously behind on posting letter activities, but I will catch up eventually. 🙂
Anyway, here is the lapbook we made for the letter C and caterpillars.

My son painted the outside of the lapbook with a car. He loved the process and that makes his painting even more special.

On the inside of the lapbook I used envelopes to put some of the materials in. I liked having a flap to keep the small pieces inside. I used packing tape to secure everything.

The shape cards and the caterpillar size sorting activity were both from 1+1+1=1. The letter C tracing page came from DLTK. I laminated everything for durability.

A couple of years ago we had three monarch butterfly caterpillars that we observed. I took pictures of the process and recently turned the pictures into a 6 page wordless mini book to go in our letter C lapbook.
If you want to download a print a copy of the book, all you have to do is either click the picture above or this link. From Catterpillar to Butterfly

For the letter D lapbook we made my son painted the outside with a dinosaur.

On the inside of the lapbook I again used envelopes to hold the small pieces. I also laminated almost everything and used clear packing tape to secure the envelopes and tracing page to the folder.

I used several of the dinosaur printables from 2 Teaching Momies including the dinosaur size sorting cards, the dinosaur clip cards, and the dinosaur pattern cards and one of the pattern templates.
The letter D tracing page came from DLTK.
My son and I have really been enjoying the lapbooks we have made so far because they are a great way to reinforce skills I want him to learn. Plus, he can work on them whenever he wants independently.
Do you make lapbooks for the letters or units you are studying?
