Good morning! It is time for Fix It Up Friday again. I am so glad to have you join me. Thank you to those of you who linked up last week. If you are a blogger and have a creative post to link up, please do so. I always love to see what other people create. The guidelines can be found here. If you link up a post I will feature it on my Facebook page as well.
Today I am going to do something a little different. I haven’t been very crafty this week. I thought it might be fun to show you my efforts from a day of crafting in real-time. Well, not minute by minute, but how about hourly updates?
Each hour from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST. I will share a photo and a short update of what I have been doing. Be sure to check back regularly to see how much I accomplish today.
Update #1 (9:00 a.m.)- On Wednesday I shared about my new home management binder. Today I am going to make a covered box to hold it and other miscellaneous papers that seem to land on any flat surface we own. The picture above is the before picture. The baby is napping so I better get busy.
Update #2 (10:00 a.m.)- Well, that hour went fast. Janna slept through a lot of that time so that was helpful. Napping baby or not, I am in the middle of a craftastrophe (crafting catastrophe). Remind me not to take apart a box before covering it just because I think it might be easier. Not a good thing. Plus, I think it may be time for a new glue gun. Mine is starting to fold under the pressure.
Update #3 (11:00 a.m.)- Crisis averted! I finished the box and found that it fit perfectly in my buffet. It is now holding all of my aprons so they aren’t just strewn all over the place. It was good to clean out a few things in the buffet and to not have my efforts be a total waste. It is functional and no one will see it. 🙂
After cleaning up my mess from craft project number one (Yes, dear hubby of mine, I cleaned up my mess.) I sat down to nurse Janna and plan out my next project. Let’s hope it goes better.
Update #4 (12:00 p.m.)- That was a more productive hour. I made a crinkle blankie for Janna to chew on. As you can see, she is already enjoying it. This was a quick project that will probably result in a tutorial for next week’s Fix It Up Friday. Now it is lunch time. All of this crafting is making me hungry. 🙂
Update #5 (1:00 p.m.)- No crafting this past hour, only eating and playing with the little ones. I better get busy because I only have 2 more hours left to craft. One thing I will say is that spending the day trying to be crafty is resulting in no laundry getting done.
Update #6 (2:00 p.m.)- Here is my latest project on this day of crafting. This little placemat tote bag was a fun and quick sewing project. I love crafting with placemats and will write up a tutorial for this bag/purse/Bible case soon. The placemat came from a yard sale which is a great place to find inexpensive crafting supplies.
One more hour left. Hmmm…what shall I make?
Update #7 (3:00 p.m.)- I did a quick search and found a really cute idea for making a slipcover for a milk crate. I decided this would be good for housing my binder and assorted loose papers and receipts. The tutorial I used was found at this site.
I just finished this so my update is a few minutes late. It isn’t easy making things, taking pictures of the items, editing them, and uploading them all in an hour. Whew!
I had a lot of fun. Sometimes I think a break from all of the laundry and dishes is nice. However, I need to find a balance between all or nothing. I love being creative, but I tend to do these one day of crafting and nothing else getting done type of days and then go a whole week without crafting. How do you find time to craft and not have your household chores go by the wayside?
Thanks for hanging out with me as I spent the day crafting. What have you been making lately?
Now it’s your turn to link up your creative post. I look forward to seeing all of your great ideas. The guidelines for linking up are here.
