On Tuesday the kids and I got dressed in old clothes to go to a nearby u-pick strawberry patch. We have gone for the last several years and always enjoy it. Plus, we get lots of great strawberries to eat and preserve.
Well, that wasn’t the case this time. We arrived at the strawberry patch only to find that it was way too wet to pick and that it was likely it would be that way for a few days. I purchased a few strawberries to eat and freeze, but not nearly as many as we would have picked.
Since we were already out and about I decided to do one of the other things on our summer bucket list.
We found all of the historical markers in our county and took pictures. My kids seemed to really enjoy this activity and were very interested in what each marker had written on it.
There were things that we learned that I didn’t even know about our county.
If you don’t know where the historical markers are in your county I suggest you head to your state’s website and search for historical markers.
If you live in Indiana here is the link to the historical markers. Just click on your county to find out more.
At one historical marker site we got to enjoy a beautiful view of the river.
And, I got to enjoy a beautiful view myself. 🙂
Do you know where the historical markers are in your county? I suggest finding out and having a fun time learning with your kids.
