What I’m Into {April 2015}
Another month is coming to an end. April kept us busy with Easter, a birthday party, and other fun times with family and friends. Here’s what I was into in April. My Family The days are getting longer, the grass is green, there are flowers popping up everywhere, and the trees have leafed out. I think…

Felt Projects
I have made a few things from my felt stash for the kids for Christmas. I made car play mats for the boys and a doll play mat for Julia. I think they will like them. They were easy to make once I decided on how to do them. I put a pocket on the…

I Spy Bags
I made I Spy Bags for my own children and some of the other children on our Christmas list. I had a lot of fun creating these. The ones in the first picture are made from small tote bags that I had purchased last year. I opened the seams on the sides of the bags….

Embroidered Sweatshirts & Door Hangers
I embroidered the 3 older kids sweatshirts for Christmas using designs from various sources. I think they will like them. I also embroidered the door hangers pictured below. I had a design that I edited in my embroidery software. I deleted all stitches except the outline stitches. Then I inserted text and a graphic for…

Bean Bags
I made the kids bean bags for Christmas. Each child will get 3 bean bags in a drawstring bag. I cut 5 inch squares of fabric for the bean bags. I sewed the squares, right sides together, leaving an opening on one side to put the rice in. (I chose rice because it is smaller…

Artist Drawing Case & Pillows
I have been making more things for Christmas gifts. I made 14 of the Little Artist Drawing Cases pictured above. They are for various kids on our Christmas list. I followed the tutorial on a site. Thankfully, I printed them because the link no longer works. Here is a link I found from the same…

Homemade Baby Toys
I have been busy sewing lots of Christmas presents recently. I have made four things for our new baby. Considering the baby will be born right at Christmas I know he won’t be interested, but I wanted him to have presents under the tree like the other kids. All of the fabrics used to make…

More Cloth Diapers
OK. I think I am getting to be a little obsessed with making diapers for the new baby. I keep looking at all of the fabric I have laying around, and I keep wanting to make more diapers. Here are 2 of my latest diapers. They were made using the one size fitted RRP pattern….

Garden Blessings
Our garden has been wonderful this year. The blessings of produce have definitely been overflowing. In May we planted tomatoes, green peppers, green beans, corn, zucchini, cucumbers, and pumpkins. We also have a thornless blackberry patch out back. We used no pesticides or fertilizers on our garden. We have eaten really well this summer thanks…

New Diaper Bag
I bought a new pattern from a WAHM. It is called the Hot Mama Messenger Style Diaper Bag. Her company is called Wired Up Designs. Here is the link to her Hyena Cart. http://hyenacart.com/wiredupdesigns/ I really liked the pattern and the bag that resulted from it. There was one mistake I made. I somehow put…

Cloth Diaper Sewing
I think there are so many benefits to using cloth diapers that I want to use them from the beginning with our new baby. I wanted to use cloth diapers with my oldest two children, but didn’t. I started cloth diapering my youngest when he was one. I had been given some Gerber prefolds when…

Ultrasound
Today I had my big ultrasound. I am 19 1/2 weeks pregnant with our 4th child. The baby looked very healthy and everything appeared to be going very well. The baby was not shy about letting us know that he is indeed a BOY! Julia and James were disappointed that the baby wasn’t a girl,…
