Soundly sleeping. I tiptoe in to listen to them breathe and whisper one last “I love you.”

The baby wakes. We snuggle and she falls into a milk-induced slumber.

I try my best to memorize every moment with God’s sweet blessings.

Yet, time keeps marching on. I search for the pause button, but it eludes me.

12, 9, 6, 3, and 6 months.

Freeze.

Pause.

Do not pass go.

No matter how hard I try, the moments keep flying by and I am not sure I am soaking them in and memorizing them quickly enough.

In the midst of trying to get my life and home organized with weekly goals, I don’t want to lose sight of the reason I do what I do every day.

My precious children and husband deserve my best, but reaching goals isn’t what make a life worth living. It’s the people you’re reaching them for.

Jackie, as your father, I tried that as well, to find the Pause button…it’s obvious I could not, but I can remember you and your brother’s growing years with such joy. I find that now, through our grandchildren, we can relish the joy of childhood all over again. Thank you the thoughtful journey you allow us to view through your reflections. I love you.
