March came in with a roar in the form of a whole bunch of snow, and it went out as gentle as a lamb in the form of sunny, warm weather. It was a busy month, but we also had a chance to spend some time just relaxing at home. Overall, it was a really good month. Here’s what I was into in March.
My Family
I took the picture above on March 1st when we received yet another round of snow. Just two weeks later we enjoyed some warmer temperatures and were playing in the mud instead of snow.
Julia played the part of Mrs. Banks in her high school’s production of Mary Poppins and I was so proud of her.
I had never heard a single word of her dialogue or her songs (I was trying not to be a stage mom, and she didn’t ask for help). It was a true surprise and delight to watch my daughter perform. All of the students did a marvelous job and it was such a blessing to see a small high school put on such a wonderful performance.
I do think that my daughter has found her calling with singing and acting. She lit up the stage each time she stepped out from behind the curtain.
One Sunday after church we got to go to our local bowling alley with our church family and had a great time. I am thankful that I got to bowl in the lane with the kids because I think my score would have been even worse without the bumpers. 😉
We had an entire week off for spring break near the end of the month and we all thoroughly enjoyed the break. We stayed up late, slept in, watched more TV and movies than normal, went out to eat once, did a little shopping, went to the movie theater to watch Cinderella, and purchased 50 baby chicks (all hens).
Even though we didn’t go on a vacation like many people do, it was wonderful to have everyone home and together for 9 days.
What I’m Working On
In March I finished one of the websites I had been working on for a client and earlier this week I finished another. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with my business workload.
Other things that I have been working on are all sewing projects. While I probably should be spring cleaning I have had so much fun sewing instead.
At the beginning of the month I made my boys matching fleece pants. These were supposed to be done for Christmas but you know how life goes.
I don’t think the boys minded that they were late because they have been wearing them all the time around the house.
I also sewed dresses for Julia and Janna for Easter.
Janna is so excited to wear her new polka dot dress. Last year she called polka dots “coconuts”. I can’t believe she is almost four and is such a big girl. I miss some of her cute sayings like that, and that she used to call her brother Joshua “Taco”. Anyway…
I also decided to make a blouse and skirt for myself to sort of match the girls for Easter. Really, I can’t believe I have undertaken such a project since I always say I’m not a good clothing seamstress. However, it has been coming together fairly easily so far.
I guess you will have to wait until next month’s update to see how we ladies look wearing our new outfits, unless I write a post about them before then.
Favorite Picture
I think this is my favorite picture I took in March not because of my photography skills, but because my husband and boys had so much fun riding bikes down our country road.
On The Blog
I didn’t write as many posts as I had planned last month. Maybe this month I will get some of those posts out of draft mode. Here are the posts I did manage to publish in March.
- {Allergy-Free} Pancake Recipe
- Why I Don’t Want to Have Fuzzy Memories About the Hard Days of Parenting
- When I Am Afraid I Will Trust in You
- Elastic Waist Skirt with Contrasting Hem Tutorial
Well, that about does it for March. To keep up with me until next month’s update head over to Instagram where I have been sharing all sorts of random pictures. Also, be sure to follow me on Pinterest and Facebook while you’re at it.
What were you into in March?
I’m linking up with Leigh Kramer to show what I’m into lately!
