What I’m Into {April 2015}

Another month is coming to an end. April kept us busy with Easter, a birthday party, and other fun times with family and friends. Here’s what I was into in April.

My Family

Digging in the Dirt April 2015

The days are getting longer, the grass is green, there are flowers popping up everywhere, and the trees have leafed out. I think those are things that make April one of my favorite months.

While we had some nice, sunny days in April, we also had some downright cold days, too. Even so, we took advantage of the nice days by getting outside as much as possible.

Dying Easter Eggs with Whisks April 2015

While I am not into the Easter Bunny and we don’t do Easter baskets for the kids, I do think it is fun for the kids to get to dye Easter eggs.

This year I bought some small whisks for the younger kids to use to dip their eggs into the dye. They worked pretty well.

Birthday Fun April 2015

This little girl turned 4 years old earlier this month. I honestly can’t believe it. It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that I told you that I was pregnant with Janna and that she was born. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun.

Speaking of fun, when we sang happy birthday to Janna on her birthday, and again at her party, she laughed the whole time. I guess she thought it was fun, or maybe she thought our singing was funny.

Wearing Shades April 2015

We had Joseph’s eyes examined a couple of weeks ago because he had been having some headaches and we wanted to make sure it was vision-related. The doctor decided to dilate his eyes. Joseph was so brave that he never winced or even moved when they put the drops in his eyes.

He didn’t end up needing glasses, but he got some cool disposable shades instead. Janna got a pair, too. (BTW, just so I don’t get anyone thinking I don’t have my kids in proper seats, Janna hadn’t been buckled into her car seat yet and Joseph was in a booster seat.)

Easter 2015

In March I shared about the dresses I was making for Julia and Janna for Easter. They did get to wear them on Easter and I think they both liked matching each other.

I made Julia’s T-shirt, and I had been working on a shirt and skirt for me to wear. Let’s just say that things didn’t go as planned and I wore something I already had in my closet (more on that below).

Cardinal Pecking Window April 2015

While I know this bird isn’t a part of my family we actually thought she was trying to be. This female Cardinal pecked on our living room window for the better part of four days.

We did some research and decided that the most logical explanation was that she thought there was another female cardinal looking at her and she didn’t want to back down from a challenge.

It was kind of neat to be able to look at a bird so closely, but I am glad she didn’t crack our window. :)

What I’m Working On

Sewing a Shirt April 2015

Early in April I was working on finishing the button down shirt I was planning to wear on Easter. I did finish the shirt and it looked nice, just not on me.

The problem was that I didn’t make adjustments for the fact that I am unable to fill out the front of the shirt (if you know what I mean). Not only that but I forgot to account for the fact that this was a shorter shirt and I am tall.

When I tried it on the kids laughed because they didn’t think it looked good on me. I guess it will end up at the thrift store if I can’t think of someone to give it to. :)

New Sewing Project April 2015

I have cut out another jumper for Janna that is just like her Easter dress, and I have also cut out a vintage dress pattern for me. If all goes well I hope we can wear them on Mother’s Day.

There have been several websites I have been working on and I need to update my design business website. It seems like between that and blogging I could spend all day every day working on the computer. However, I try not to do that.

My Favorite Picture

Flying a Kite April 2015

One afternoon in early April we got to fly some kites in the field beside our house. The wind was just right and the boys had so much fun letting out all of the string to make them go as high as they could. The less fun part was winding up all of the string. :)

On the Blog

While I had plans to post more in April, that just didn’t happen. Someday, maybe, I will reach my blogging goals. In the meantime, here are the posts I did manage to write in April.

Well, that about does it for April. To keep up with me until next month’s update head over to Instagram where I have been sharing all sorts of random pictures. Also, be sure to follow me on Pinterest and Facebook while you’re at it.

What were you into in April?

I’m linking up with Leigh Kramer to show what I’m into lately!
