The second story in The Jesus Storybook Bible is about Adam and Eve (Genesis 3). The storyis called “The Terrible Lie”. To help the children remember the story we made apple trees with snakes wrapped around the trunk.
The trees we made had toilet paper tubes as the base and pipe cleaners as the snake, or serpent.
The supplies needed for this project are a toilet paper tube, a green pipe cleaner, green construction paper in the shape of leaves on a tree, a small strip of red construction paper, glue, and scissors.
I cut out the leaf shapes and also cut 2 small slits at the top of the toilet paper tube directly opposite each other. The children cut small snips of the red paper to serve as fruit.
The children then glued the red strips to the green paper. Next, they slid it into the 2 slits I had made in the toilet paper tube. Finally, they coiled the pipe cleaner around the tree to represent the snake.
They turned out really cute and were a simple way for the children to remember the story.
As an extra reminder I wrote on the back of each child’s leaves. “Genesis 3-The Terrible Lie-Adam and Eve believed the lie the serpent told them. Don’t believe satan’s lies.”
I got the idea for the apple tree from this site.
