Today we finished our study of the letter “L” by doing some activities with leaves. We started our morning by reading the book Leaf Man
by Lois Ehlert. The children loved looking at all of the different animals and plants that were made from leaves. It really is an interesting book.
After our story the children did some leaf painting/stamping. They had a lot of fun making their paintings.
Later the children colored a letter “Ll” paper from DLTK. Then they glued leaves I had dried and pressed onto each letter. These papers will go in each child’s alphabet binder.
The children also used a magnifying glass to investigate the characteristics of some leaves.
I created this worksheet about leaves as a means of helping the children better understand how to follow directions on a paper. You may download and print a copy by clicking here.
Finally, the children completed a letter “L” tracing paper I created. You may download and print a copy by clicking here.
We had a great morning. The children will be back on Monday when we will start our study of the letter “M”.
