My son and I tried a new paint recipe today and had a lot of fun with it. I thought I would share how we made it in case you want to try it, too.
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. Flour
1 Tbsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Water
5-10 Drops Food Coloring
1. For each color of paint you make you will need to mix 1 tablespoon each of flour, salt and water in a small container. You will also need to add 5 to 10 drops of liquid food coloring to each container. Mix well. Repeat for each color.
3. Once your child has finished painting, put the cardboard into a microwave for 15 seconds at a time until it is dry. It took almost a minute for my son’s painting to dry.
I think these paintings could also air dry, but it would undoubtedly take a lot longer.
4. Enjoy your child’s artwork.
My son told me he made a bumblebee and a car. 🙂
This was a fun process for my son that kept his attention throughout the entire process. He loved touching his painting which allowed us to talk about sensory words such as bumpy, smooth, rough, etc.
Have you ever made this kind of paint? If not, I would definitely recommend making some with your child.
