Clean Kitchen Days: Organize Countertops

I just finished today’s kitchen task of cleaning and organizing my countertops. I know that this is an everyday task, but I wanted to do a more thorough cleaning than normal.

I took a look at my countertops and determined what needed to stay and what needed to go. When looking at the countertop above, the choice was pretty easy. It has always been a catch-all and a constant clutter war zone. Plus, there were a few things still out from my cabinet re-organization yesterday.

Next, I took everything off of all of my countertops and gave them a good scrubbing. Then I cleaned everything that was on top of the counters and dealt with any clutter. The picture above is how my husband would prefer all of our countertops looked. Hopefully, he will be content with my version of clean and organized.

Finally, I only put back things that I really wanted out or that we use frequently. I am pleased with how this and all of my kitchen countertops look after a little effort. Now, if I can just keep them that way. That is the key.

Do you have clutter issues on your kitchen counters? What is something you keep on your counters that doesn’t really belong in the kitchen? I keep my cell phone and the kids papers. I haven’t figured out a better place yet.

I have switched Friday’s task with Monday’s, so tomorrow I will be washing the walls and anything hanging on them.

I despise clutter. I have been combating it daily. My dining room table tends to look like that quite often because of school and my office…we won’t even go there.

    It looks great…

Thanks! I don’t like clutter either, but haven’t been able to get rid of it altogether. I think we just have to keep working at it.
