A Purse, Tic-Tac-Toe and a Pillow!

What do the above three things have in common? Well, I made them all for gifts recently. The first is a purse called the Jenny Bag. It is for my daughter for Christmas. I made it using this pattern. I didn't do as well as I would have liked on the binding, but I think she will still like it.

Next up are three felt tic-tac-toe bags that I made this morning for my oldest three children for Christmas. They are all the same except for the colors, but I tried to get all the different views into one picture. I hope the kids have fun with them.

The last item is a pillow book combo that I purchased as a kit from Joann Fabrics with a coupon. It was pretty easy to put together. It is for my soon to be one year old for his birthday. The red fabric is a minky type fabric and is soft. It is also on the back of the pillow. I think he will like it.

Stay tuned for more projects in the near future.

Fabric Log Cabin

I finished this fabric log cabin for my daughter for Christmas. She is studying our state history and is really interested in pioneers. All of the fabric and plastic canvas used for this project came from my DH's aunt. (She cleaned out her trunk of "scraps" and gave them to me!) The fabric details inside were from some of the fabric I was given. I used fabric markers to color the dog, window, and welcome sign on the cabin. I also used my grandma's vintage covered button making supplies to make the buttons match. So, this cost me nothing. Yay!

I used the tutorial found here. I think it turned out alright. I am not overly happy with the way it looks when it is closed, but hopefully she will like it. I did not make the doll in the picture, but bought her the American Girl doll (Kirsten's doll) that she wanted. It is just the right size for the house.

Long Time, No Post & Baking Today

I had thought I would blog every day in October, but that sure didn't happen. I shouldn't make statements about what I will and won't do. Life has been busy and this time of year is fun, but full of activities.

Last week we hosted a big Thanksgiving dinner for both of our families. I think everyone had a great time. The following day the kids and I decorated our Christmas tree. They had so much fun. I try really hard not to rearrange the ornaments when too many get put in one spot. :-) The baby has done pretty well with the tree. He has taken a few ornaments off and tried to run away with them. (He walks everywhere now.) We have been so blessed and I think this time of year makes me realize it even more.

My almost 4 year old and I made some cookies this morning. The picture above is of Joshua's hand cutting out a train cookie. Those hands look so precious and I don't want to forget how small they are because I know he will be a grown man before I know it. We made the shortbread cookies I posted about here. We rolled them and used some various cookie cutters to make some shapes. The nice thing is they aren't super sweet and they don't require much extra flour to roll out and they don't have to be refrigerated first. It was a good time for just Joshua and I to do something special.
