What’s New
We enjoyed several beautiful days this week and were outside quite a bit. We even grilled out one evening.
My husband is the “grill master” at our house. While he doesn’t cook indoors, I always defer to him for outdoor cooking.
The last two days haven’t been as nice but we still were able to do something exciting and out of the ordinary today.
We took a ride on a real train!
My kids have all loved playing with trains, especially the boys. Joseph is still very much enamored with anything train related while the older boys have eased up a little on their need to eat, sleep, and breath all things trains.
However, we all loved trains this afternoon. We drove a little over two ours and got to ride on the “Dinosaur Train” (Like the PBS cartoon.).
We rode for a 1/2 hour to a destination site that was all set up with inflatables, a photo op with Buddy the dinosaur, and much more.
The only problem was that it was pouring down rain.
Even so, we tromped around in the mud and were able to have lots of fun.
Then we rode the train back to where we started from. There was lots of music from the show while we were riding the train which made the ride even more exciting.
It was a great experience and I am so thankful that God has blessed us with the resources to be able to do something like that.
Picture of the Week
Of course, I couldn’t talk about our special day without showing you a picture. While we took several I think this picture is my favorite.
I love my little buddy. 🙂

- We have an abundance of chickweed in our yard. I give it to our chickens but never thought about making chickweed salve to promote the healing of rashes and other skin ailments. (via Bulk Herb Store)
- This week I found some unwanted visitors and this post on how to naturally get rid of ants was very helpful. I used cinnamon and chili powder in my pantry cabinet and so far both have been working pretty well. (via Kitchen Stewardship)

That about does it for this week in review. What was your week like?
