Week in Review (3-9-13)

Good afternoon. I hope you have had a great week.

This afternoon the temperature was in the 50’s and we enjoyed being able to do some yard work. We pruned our blackberry bushes and did some other odd jobs.

I was thrilled to see some signs of spring while we were outside, but that wasn’t the case earlier in the week.

Skipping Through the Snow

On Tuesday Julia and James skipped around the yard while snowflakes that looked like torn bits of paper fell on them. They were so much fun to watch as they danced around the yard.

We had a great week even with our drastic changes in weather. I didn’t mind the snow because it was precipitation and, after last summer’s drought, I definitely don’t want to begrudge rain or snow.

I did get to read several posts this week and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you.

  • When I make my husband sweet tea I use liquid stevia since he is a diabetic, so I was excited to find a tutorial for making stevia extract from Common Sense Homesteading.
  • I have loved chocolate and peanut butter cups/eggs/anything for years. Yet, I know they aren’t the healthiest things to eat. Maybe this healthy chocolate peanut butter fudge recipe from Creating Naturally will be a better alternative.
  • Speaking of food, check out this list of 85 snack ideas for kids from 100 Days of Real Food.
  • “Perfect is a Poison” by Jon Acuff is a great reminder that sometimes just getting something done is better than not doing it at all.
  • If you have trouble getting your day off to a great start then maybe you should try Money Saving Mom’s ideas of 15 things each morning and/or these 11 things before you go to bed.

Also, if you are looking for ways to be more frugal you may want to check out this week’s Bundle of the Week ebooks.
