This past week my goal was to keep my kitchen clean. I kind of feel like I failed at this one even though I did make some progress with keeping a few of my counters clean.
Maybe I should start with my successes before I get to what I still need to improve on.
We have a counter in our kitchen that at one point was a desk, but we raised the countertop to make it standard height. The goal was to gain more counter space instead of a junk pile.
Sometimes I meet that goal. Like today.
But often the counter becomes a catch-all. Here is what that counter looked like on Monday.
Yikes! I knew it was bad, but seeing it in a photograph makes it even worse.
The problem with clutter is that it can be debilitating. I can see this mess and cringe every day, but the task of cleaning it seems so insurmountable that I just end up putting it off.
This counter isn’t the only area of my home that ends up with clutter, but it feels the worst because we spend so much time in the kitchen.
While I did make a lot of progress on my kitchen this week there is one area that is a mess right now. My kitchen sink.
I’m going to go to bed in a few minutes even though it means waking up to a dirty sink.
However, the good news is that my counters aren’t piled high with dishes, just the sink. Baby steps.
I did meet my goal of drinking 4 cups of water each day this week and that is a good feeling. I’m halfway to my goal of 8 cups per day.
Are there any dirty dishes in your kitchen sink right now? Tell me I’m not alone. 🙂
