Week 7: Keep the Kitchen Clean

11 weeks button

It’s week 7 of my quest for organization and so far I have been reading from the Bible, trying to get 8 hours of sleep, dressing for success, exercising and drinking more water, keeping my bathrooms “company ready”, and getting into a better laundry routine.

This week my goal is to keep my kitchen clean which means, long story short, I don’t want to wake up to a sink full of dirty dishes and clutter on the countertops anymore.

The kitchen is a hub of activity in our home. We rarely eat out so obviously there is lots of cooking and eating that occur there.

In addition to eating, the kids also do homework and various projects in our kitchen. This means that some of my countertops have become a haven for paper clutter.

I have to admit something to you. I don’t enjoy cleaning my kitchen. I would love it if I had a cooking show with a staff to clean up my mess so I could just focus on cooking.

However, since I don’t have a staff, I need to shift my focus from not liking to clean the kitchen to realizing what a blessing it is to have plenty.

I also need to think about how great it feels to wake up and walk into a clean kitchen.

Discipline is going to be the key to keeping my kitchen clean this week.

Cleaning throughout the day will be much easier than trying to clean the entire kitchen right before bed.

In addition to trying to keep my kitchen clean this week I am also going to be drinking four glasses of water each day.

I’ve created a checklist that you are welcome to print out and use. Just click the picture or link below.

Week 7 Checklist

I’ve had a sick boy the past two days and so I am a day late posting this. Not only that but my kitchen isn’t clean. However, I’m working towards a goal and success doesn’t usually happen overnight.

Too bad, though, because if some little elves wanted to clean my kitchen while I sleep that would be awesome. 😉

Do you have any tips to share about how you keep your kitchen clean, or is this an area you struggle with as well?
