Week 3: Get “Dressed for Success”

11 weeks button

The first two weeks of my 11 week quest for organization have flown by. So far I have been reading my Bible every day and have been trying to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night.

This week I am going to focus on being “dressed for success” each day.

What that means is that I will make the effort to fix my hair and put on decent clothes when I wake up each morning. I even plan to wear an upper undergarment. 😉

While most days I do pretty well at this, there are some days when I look like I just got out of bed, even in the middle of the day.

My goal is to be dressed nicely enough that even when I have no place to go I will look like I do.

With five kids I never know what may come up so I think that being dressed nicely will be a good thing. I sure don’t want to get caught again with a flat tire while wearing my pajamas.

Now, those of you who are stay at home moms may be thinking, “Jackie, why in the world do you want to be dressed nicely when you are just home with the kids? Are you trying to say we need to look like June Cleaver?”

Thanks for asking those thought-provoking questions. 🙂

Being a stay at home, or work at home, mom is an important job. If you worked outside of the home you would have to dress in more than sweats, a T-shirt, and messy hair, so why should working from home be any different?

While wearing high heals, a dress, and pearls might be a little much, especially for someone like me who is 6’1″, June certainly did “dress for success” in her role as a stay at home mom.

I want my kids and husband to know that I value my job and that I care enough to look nice for them.

I think we will all have different ideas about what dressing nicely looks like, but here is what my attire will be this week: nice jeans, a nice shirt/sweater, and maybe some accessories such as jewelry or scarves.

One thing that will make this week’s goal easier is picking out my clothes the night before. That way I will be able to get dressed right away in the morning.

Who’s with me?

To encourage you I will be sharing a picture of what I am wearing each day (except today) on Facebook. This will be outside of my comfort level, but I will obviously go to great lengths to encourage you to “dress for success”. 🙂
