A couple of weeks ago my Sunday school class made this craft to go with the story of Jesus’ ascension.
We first read the story in the Jesus Storybook Bible. After reading the story we made the craft pictured above. It really was a simple one. Here are the details.
Supplies Needed
- Blue Construction Paper
- Green Construction Paper
- Cotton Balls
- Glue
- Scissors
- Crayons
- Jesus Coloring Page (Thanks, Faith Filled Freebies!)
Instructions
- Cut the piece of blue construction paper in half.
- Cut the piece of green construction paper in half. Then cut the half into thirds. Make a wavy line on one edge of the paper to make it look like a grassy hill, or cut little snips along one edge to make it look like grass.
- Glue the green paper to the bottom of the blue paper.
- Color the picture of Jesus and cut it out. Glue the picture to the blue paper so it looks like Jesus is in the air.
- Glue cotton balls towards the top of the paper to look like clouds and around Jesus to look like he is parting the clouds as he ascends.
- Write “Jesus goes home to Heaven” on the paper.
That’s it. I love doing simple crafts like this with my Sunday school class.
If you have really little ones you can do most of the prep work like cutting out everything and just help them glue everything together. If you have kids who are a little older they could probably follow all of these steps themselves (with your guidance).

Note: I recently closed my blog Pocketful of Posies and moved all of the posts here. There were a few technical difficulties and many of the pictures in my Pocketful of Posies posts aren’t working. My Sunday School Crafts posts have been my most popular and I am hoping to have the issue fixed very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.
