Here is a fun idea to go with the story of David & Goliath from the Jesus Storybook Bible (affiliate link).
You will need a paper sack, a rubber band, 5 smooth stones, and crayons for each child.
First, I wrote “The Battle is the Lord’s” and “1 Samuel 17:47” on brown paper lunch sacks.
The children were given the option to color the sacks as they wished. We even decided to write “1, 2, 3, 4, 5 stones” on them.
Next, we counted out 5 smooth stones and placed them one at a time into the paper sacks.
We then sang “Only a Boy Named David” and took a stone out of our “pouches” and acted out the song with it.
When we were done acting out the story and singing the song we used a rubber band to close the sacks.
We finished the lesson with a coloring page from DLTK.
This craft was a real kid-pleaser. My son wanted to act out the song for a good two weeks after this lesson. 🙂
