We finished the first book on our summer reading list, and my kids and I agreed that Stuart Little (affiliate link) was a fun read.
I had never read this book, but I had seen the movie that was out in the late 1990’s. The kids and I were all surprised at how drastically different the book was from the movie. We know that books and movies usually have differences, but it still surprised us. 🙂
When I picked this book I wasn’t sure how my teenage daughter would like it. Most of the time she said she didn’t need to see the pictures, but once the character of Harriet Ames was introduced, near the end of the story, she wanted to see the pictures. 🙂
Since boats played a big part in the story I decided that our book activity would have something to do with boats. The only problem was that we weren’t going to be home for a few days after we finished the book.
Thankfully, we had recently gone to a nearby children’s museum that had a wonderful water activity area that just happened to have boats in it.
My kids loved this area and I could not have created such an awesome place to watch a boat travel downstream.
As you can tell they were having a great time.
While making our own boats would have been a great activity for this book, I think my kids were satisfied by playing with these boats.
However, a few years ago we did make our own boats.
If you want to know more details about how we made these detergent bottle boats then check out this post.
Have you ever read Stuart Little(affiliate link)? Did your children like it?
