The summer is flying by and we are making the most of it. We are spending lots of time relaxing, enjoying the outdoors, and just being together.
Even though I like the fact that our schedule is more flexible in the summer, I still like to make a summer bucket list (Essentially, it’s just a list fun things we plan to do in the summer.)
On Monday we needed to go to a city that is about 25 minutes away. I knew we would be out of the house during lunch time so I packed a picnic lunch to avoid the temptation to get fast food.
We stopped at a nearby park and enjoyed a relaxing lunch watching ducks and turtles swimming in the pond.
After lunch we headed to the playground to burn off a little energy before going to one last store and then driving home.
The kids had a lot of fun and I especially loved it when all 5 kids headed up the ladder of the twirly slide at the same time. (Totally unplanned photo op. 🙂 )
Being able to do something like eating a picnic lunch and playing at a park was not only a frugal summer activity, but it turned an otherwise uneventful trip to town into special memories.
What kinds of things do you like to do with your kids in the summer?
