Last week we took a big family trip to Florida which included the seven of us along with my parents and my brother’s family. There were 12 of us altogether (6 adults and 6 children) and we had a great time. We rented a 5 bedroom house which was very nice. We are very thankful that my parents blessed us with this trip.
Two of the days of our trip were spent at the Magic Kingdom. The kids had a wonderful time and I think we big kids all had a great time, too.
I wasn’t sure how keeping track of my five children at a busy theme park would be, but I am happy to report that we made it home with all of our children. 🙂
One helpful thing I did was to dress everyone in the same color. The first day we all wore red which made it very easy to spot the children at a glance. The second day I dressed everyone in blue which wasn’t the best idea since everyone and their brother had on blue that day. I think if I were to do this again I would either have us all wear red again or pick another bright color.
My husband and older three children rode many of the rides along with my brother and father. There were several rides that all were able to ride as well.
We got to meet a few of the characters. Joseph (4) was very excited about meeting Woody and Jessie and didn’t mind standing in line to see them.
On our second day at the Magic Kingdom it rained on us for most of the afternoon and evening. We still got to go on lots of rides and have a good time in spite of the rain. I thought it was better than the boiling heat.
We stayed out later than normal and the kids’ schedules were off, but it was worth it to have the kids experience all sorts of new adventures at Disney World.
I asked my kids what their favorite rides were at the Magic Kingdom and here are their responses.
- Julia (12 1/2) - Splash Mountain
- James (9 1/2) - Space Mountain
- Joshua (7 1/2) - Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Joseph (4 1/2) - The steam train that goes around the Magic Kingdom.
- Janna (14 months) - I am not sure that she had a favorite ride, unless you count sleeping through the electrical parade and the fireworks while riding in her stroller. 🙂
