One great thing about having a graphic arts teacher for a husband is that he can help me out with projects that require design skills that I don’t possess. Plus, I know how much he loves helping me create new projects. (Note the hint of sarcasm in this line of text.) 🙂
Anyway, a few years ago I asked him to help me design personalized clock faces to put inside some inexpensive clocks I purchased. Being the good husband he is he designed a clock face that only required that we insert a name, a picture, change the colors of the numbers if desired, and then hit print. He used Adobe InDesign and made it look so easy. I have pictured one of the clocks we made, but we made one for each of the kids.
Basically, all you have to do is pop the plastic front off of your clock using a flat head screwdriver (being careful not to break it). Then take off the hands making sure you keep them in the same order. Cut out your new clock face, and place it inside the clock. Put the hands and cover back on, and you now have an inexpensive personalized clock.
If you feel so inclined to make a personalized clock of your own you may download the template my husband made. I believe you can only use it in Adobe InDesign though. If you have this program then you probably have some knowledge of how to add text and graphics. If you do use this template and post about it somewhere on the web would you please be so kind as to provide a link back? Thanks.
