I read a blog post recently by Chasing Cheerios about a color matching activity that used paper clips and craft foam. I decided to give it a try and made one for my son.
I used construction paper strips covered with contact paper instead of the craft foam suggested in the blog post, and I think it worked very well.
My son enjoyed matching the colors. He did have a little trouble figuring out how to put on the paper clips. However, once I demonstrated how they worked he was able to have success.

Each paper strip was cut to a size of 6 inches by 2 inches and covered in contact paper for durability. If you have access to a laminator that would work even better.
A brad was used to attach all of the colored strips together. The paper clips were ones I already had but could easily be purchased anywhere that sells office supplies.
This activity uses fine motor skills, visual discrimination, and color recognition. It was a great activity for my four year old.
