October 2014 at Blessings Overflowing

October is over and I have to say that it was a pretty great month because smack dab in the middle we got to take an entire week off. It was Fall Break for our kids which meant my husband had the week off too since he is a principal.

We spent several days at home doing some decluttering and just enjoying a slower pace spending time together. There were a few extra special activities we enjoyed, one of which was an impromptu cookout in our backyard.

The day we chose to have the cookout was perfect because the temperature was cool enough to enjoy a fire but not so cold that we were frozen.

Later in the week, on the nicest weather day of vacation, we took a trip to a zoo that was a couple of hours away.

We all had a wonderful time soaking up the sunshine and looking at all of the amazing animals God created.

When we were done we stopped at a buffet and enjoyed a nice lunch before heading back home.

When our vacation week was over I was sad because I loved having everyone home. Taking a week off left me feeling more refreshed than I had in months, and I am thankful for the memories we shared.

Riding in the Combine 2014

My uncle was able to finish harvesting all of his crops this past week. The field by our house was the last one he needed to harvest and my boys were thrilled that they got to ride in the combine with him for a couple of passes. As a result, I am enjoying seeing more than corn when I look out of my dining room window. :)

Last Saturday was a gorgeous day (as you can see by the fact that my boys are wearing shorts in the picture above), so I decided it was the perfect time to take family pictures.

We hadn’t done a full portrait session outside for three years so it was definitely time. I put some of the pictures on my about page but I wanted to share a few more here.

My Girls

I just love this picture of my girls and this one of my boys, too.

My Boys

There are 3 months out of each year where my kids are all three years apart in age. Right now they are 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15. Plus, my husband and I have been married for 18 years. It is so cool how that worked out mathematically even though there was no planning on our part.

I posted quite a few pictures on Instagram in October. There are even some embarrassing pictures of how messy I had let my basement get. However, I redeemed myself by getting it all cleaned up. If you want to follow me there or just read my captions head over to Instagram.

I didn’t write as many posts as I had planned. There are bunch floating around in my head that someday I will hopefully have time to post. Here is what I did manage to write in this space.
