Last Friday we didn’t have preschool because the roads were still bad from all of the snow and it was bitter cold. The local schools were closed so I decided to cancel our class as well. I can’t say that I was too upset because I was really having a hard time coming up with enough short “O” activities. I am not really sure what prompted me to do the short sound of the vowels and then learn about the long sounds after we get through the alphabet. I am still heading onward with that plan, though.
Also, I realized as I was planning our letter “P” activities for this morning that I hadn’t posted about our letter “O” folders. This is another one of those ideas that I am not sure why I started. I am sure that I could do more and have more exciting things in their folders, but sometimes I am out of ideas for these folders. However, it was one of those ideas that I started and now am just trudging ahead through the rest of the alphabet.
On Wednesday the children painted the outside of their folders with olives.
Inside each child’s folder was a copy of their letter “O” tracing paper and mini book from First-School, an octopus coloring page from DLTK (I numbered each leg before they colored the paper on Monday.), a copy of an octopus song, and a number nine tracing paper from this site.
Stay tuned for a post in a little while about our letter “P” acitivities from this morning. I am finding it much easier to find activities for the letter “P”.
