Today my son and I did some frog-themed activities.
We started by turning a lowercase letter f into a frog. This was a very simple letter craft.
I printed a letter f outline from DLTK. I simply enlarged it to about 125% before printing.
My son colored it, we cut it out, and then he glued it to a piece of construction paper.
A red tongue, green legs, and two large wiggly eyes helped turn the letter into a frog.
Another activity we did was to act out a cute frog song using 5 little frog puppets that I printed from Picklebums.
I laminated the frogs and then taped them to popsicle sticks. I wrote the numbers 1 through 5 at the bottom of the popsicle sticks.
Then, I cut part of a paper towel tube off so that it would lay flat on the table. I numbered it and made slits for each popsicle stick to fit inside.
I first had my son match each frog with the same number on the log.
Then, I sang the song and my son took a frog off of our log each time a frog jumped into the water.
This was a fun activity and my son liked it so much we did it about four times in a row. 🙂
I did have to tape the paper towel log to the table because it was unstable when we put all of the frogs in it.
Our final activity was to read the book Frog and Toad Together by Arnold Lobel. There are five chapters in the book and my son was delighted with each one.
We had a great time with our froggy activities. Check back tomorrow when I will share my son’s letter F lapbook.
