Today my son and I did some fish-themed learning activities to go with the letter F. We started by making a fish out of a capital letter F.
I got the idea from MC Tot. However, I made several changes and even decided to create my own printable using basic shapes.
I cut out all of the pieces since there were quite a few. Then my son glued the light blue rectangles to a piece of construction paper to look like a capital F.
Next, he glued the triangles on the fish to serve as fins. A half circle head, a wiggly eye, and a heart shaped mouth made the F look a little more like a fish.
Finally, it was time to glue on all of the scales. I used one of the scales as a template to make an aluminum foil scale like the Rainbow Fish has. (We read that book before doing this craft.)
If you would like to print out and create your own letter F fish craft then you are in luck because I am offering it as a free printable. Simply click the picture or link below.

We also read the book Ten Little Fish which my son absolutely adored because I gave him 10 paper fish to act out the story with. Every time a fish swam off I asked him to take away one of the fish.
This was a great way to help him take an active part in the story plus practice his number recognition and counting.
We had a lot of fishy fun. 🙂 What letter are you studying this week with your preschooler?
