Today we worked from the apple lapbook I made with my son. He is loving the activities and as I am typing this post he is working on one of them right beside me. 🙂
To make the lapbook I made 3 pockets out of red cardstock and laminated them. Then I laminated a letter A tracing page that I had attached to a piece of red paper. I also printed and laminated the apple finger play that we learned on Wednesday.
Using clear packaging tape I attached everything to the inside of a file folder that I had folded in such a way that the to edges met in the middle.
Side note: I highly recommend this laminator because it is not only inexpensive, but it gets the job done. I enjoy it much more than using contact paper.
Yesterday my son painted the outside of his folder with an apple.
One of the activities in the lapbook my son did was to put these number cards in the correct order. I printed the cards from A Heart for Home.
My son’s favorite activity from the lapbook was to put these apple cards in order from smallest to largest and vice versa. He has done this several times today. I printed the cards from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Another activity I printed from Confessions of a Homeschooler were these shape matching cards.
The final activity in the lapbook was the tracing page I printed and laminated from DLTK-Kids. By laminating the page and using a dry erase marker my son can practice writing capital and lowercase A’s to his heart’s content. A small piece of T-shirt fabric is serving as an eraser.
The final page we did today, that did not go in the lapbook, was from A Heart for Home. I asked my son to use a bingo dauber to fill in each circle. This was a great activity for enhancing his fine motor skills.
My little guy really seems to be enjoying his lapbook and I think it will be a great way to reinforce some concepts he needs to practice.
Do you make lapbooks with your preschooler? I am looking forward to coming up with ideas for each letter.
