July 2014 at Blessings Overflowing

July was one of the busiest months I can remember but we packed it full of as much fun as we could. Here are some of my favorite pictures from July.

Cup Hands

On July 4th we hosted some of our family for a cookout and fireworks which were both activities on our summer bucket list.

As you can tell by the picture above my kids tried out something we had seen on several sites where you poke a hole in a plastic cup and then put a sparkler inside in the hopes you won’t get burnt. It actually worked!

Silly Boy

Joseph enjoyed the glow stick bracelets we bought for the kids. Silly boy! 🙂 We all had a fun time.

Most of the summer we had been working on 4-H projects. Julia, James, and Joshua worked so hard and learned so much.

4-H Fashion Review 2014

The week after the 4th of July was the first of the 4-H fair activities when Julia got to model the outfit she made. The pattern was from 1959 that we found at a yard sale a few years ago. It was a perfect fit.

If you want to see some pictures of the dress-making process check out these Instagram pics: fabric and pattern, cutting out fabric, sewing the dress.

Julia received sr. grand champion for modeling her outfit and reserve grand champion on her sewing (state fair selection). Julia also got grand champion on her child development (state fair selection) and a blue/honor ribbon on her craft project.

While Julia did well at the fair the boys did, too. James got reserve champion on his woodworking and blue ribbons on his Lego and electricity projects. Joshua got champion on his electricity (state fair selection) and a blue on his Lego project.

Right around the same time as the fair we started logging quite a few hours helping my husband get his new school in order. We are excited that God worked out the details to allow him to have this principal’s job and we are praying He will continue to work at the details as school starts next week.

Helping at School

These 5 kids of mine were such a blessing as they have worked without complaint. They have had less time to just goof off than they normally would have but the great thing is that we have all been together and we were only 10 minutes from home.

After having my husband working an hour away for the past 14 years I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have him close to home.

Sisters

My sweet Julia turned 15 in July and it truly doesn’t seem possible. Sometimes I can’t believe that it has been 12 years since she was Janna’s age. Julia is such a remarkable young woman and I am so thankful that God chose me to be her mom.

I posted quite a few pictures of vegetables (with a few of my kids thrown in) on Instagram in July. If you want to follow me there or just read my captions head over to Instagram.
