Today I want to share about the mobile I made for our new baby. Last week I shared a mod podged piece of artwork I made, and yesterday I shared about the crib skirt and valance I made.
To make the mobile I started with a 6 inch embroidery hoop that I got for 25 cents at a yard sale.
My sweet daughter was more than happy to paint both parts red.
While she was painting I printed out the color shapes from Jan Andrea’s site. I decided to only use three of the designs for the mobile.
I cut out three pieces of craft foam and glued one circle to each piece of foam. Then I took two more circles and glued half of each to the other side of the foam circle and half to each other. Check out the picture below to see what I mean.
When they were dry I used my hot glue gun to attach some ribbon to the circles. I hot glued the two embroidery hoops together and then attached the ribbon.
The mobile is attached to my ceiling with an eye hook and more ribbon. The mobile is 24 inches from the crib mattress. I can adjust it if needed. Also, I will remove the mobile once the baby is able to stand up in the crib.
My littlest guy has been fascinated with the mobile and has been my quality control tester. So far, the mobile has passed his sturdiness tests.
Here is what Janna will see.
I have several other shapes printed out that I didn’t use for the mobile. I can use them change up the mobile as the baby gets older if I choose. I am also thinking of making something to hold them in our vehicle so that Janna can look at them while we are driving around.
Have any of you ever made a mobile before? If you have a mobile that attaches to your crib lying around I am sure it wouldn’t be hard to use these high contrast shapes to change it up instead of starting from scratch like I did.
