This is how our garden looks right now. I have put newspaper and straw down in between all of the rows and plants to minimize weeds. This also allows me to walk around in the garden even after a heavy rain.
On Sunday, Joshua helped me pick our broccoli. We harvested five large heads of broccoli.
I cut below the head with a knife, but didn’t dig up the plant. New heads will grow, but will be a little smaller.
Yesterday afternoon I picked this lovely zucchini and a few green beans. I fried the zucchini for supper and froze the green beans until I have a few more. To freeze green beans I simply wipe off any dirt, take off the ends, break the beans in half or thirds and then place them into a freezer bag.
I am thankful for our garden and I am looking forward to many more harvests.
