December has come and gone and with it another year. Hello, 2015!
December is always a busy month for our family with 2 boys having birthdays, our anniversary, Christmas programs, Christmas and all that it entails, and New Year’s.
While all of those activities meant December was super busy for our family, we really had a great month.
For that matter, we had a great year. In case you missed any of my monthly updates last year, here they are.

And now here is a look back at December.
We have had combined birthday parties for Joshua and Joseph since Joseph’s 2nd birthday because their birthdays are exactly 1 week apart. With hosting Thanksgiving, 2 birthday parties in the subsequent 2 weeks just turned out to be too much.
The boys don’t seem to care and it actually has been a lot of fun to celebrate their birthdays together.
A friend of mine suggested I share a picture of what a fairly minimal Christmas for 5 kids looks like. Our kids don’t get heaps and piles of presents on Christmas morning. They each got 5 presents to open (1 of which was homemade) and their stockings this year. They also got a combined gift that they have been enjoying.
There are some people who would say that our kids didn’t get enough and there are others that would think our kids got too much. All I know is that our kids had a lot of fun this Christmas and never once complained about the number of presents they received. Plus, we didn’t go into debt to provide our kids with a nice Christmas.
Look at those happy faces. Well, Janna doesn’t look too happy but that is because everyone made her wake up to open presents and she was still tired. 🙂
The kids have loved their new keyboard (affiliate link), especially the fact that it plays several songs on its own. The big kids are working to learn how to play a few songs thanks to the lighted keys.
A couple of days after Christmas two of my best friends came over and we had a homemade pizza party. The picture above isn’t the best one from the night, but I like it because it shows how busy my kitchen can be. I love having a full house and I thank God every day for allowing me to have 5 wonderful kids.
