When my oldest son was a preschooler we studied each letter of the alphabet. I had printouts of each letter with both upper case and lower case letters. First, I had him trace each letter. Then, we came up with matching items for each letter that we glued to the paper. For example, the letter “F” was feathers and the letter “G” was gold glitter.
When each letter page was dry I put it into a plastic sheet protector inside of a binder. He loved looking through his alphabet book. He still has it on a bookshelf in his room. Not only was this a great learning tool, but it is also a special keepsake.
If you want to do something similar with your child there are a couple of places you can find letter pages to print. First, check out DLTK-Kids. For each letter there are many ideas, but if you scroll down a little you will find simple letter templates like this.
I also recently found the Itty Bitty Bookworm site. They have free alphabet templates here. They do not have the lower case letter with the capital letter, though. However, there is a nice list of ideas for what to put on each letter.
I will be sharing alphabet ideas as we do them in my preschool, so check back regularly to see what we are doing.
