Week in Review (4-27-13)

What’s New?

I guess I should have titled this post “2 Weeks in Review” since I didn’t post last Saturday. I am not sure exactly why I didn’t but, hey, it’s my blog and I guess if I don’t feel like posting I don’t have to. ;)

Last year’s drought seems like forever ago considering much of our area has been experiencing some serious flooding. We personally haven’t been inconvenienced by the excess water other than the fact that I can’t plant the garden because it has a lot of water in it. However, some people have had damage to their homes and property due to the flooding.

The positive side to all of the rain we have been having is that our prayers last year for an end to the drought have been answered.

I guess it’s like the old saying, “When you pray for rain you better carry an umbrella.” :)

Pictures of the Week

I couldn’t decide on just one picture this week, so I narrowed it down to three.

garden 4-25-13

This is what our garden looked like on Thursday afternoon. It was a gorgeous day and the kids loved playing in the mud.

I snapped this picture before they got really muddy. Sometimes there is nothing like squishing your fingers in mud, or getting completely covered in it. :)

chickens 4-26-13

Do you remember when I posted about our cute baby chicks? Well, they have hit the gawky teenager phase as I like to call it. In another month they should have all their feathers and be closer to full-grown size.

We are still keeping the heat lamps on because it continues to be cold at night, but we moved them up some. It is also about time to make their little pen bigger so they have more room. It will be at least a month or so before we will let them outside.

New Kittens 4-26-13

When I was helping James feed the animals yesterday we discovered that our sweet cat Princess had given birth to three kittens, probably just a few hours before.

The kittens were nursing well and mama cat was doing a great job. So sweet!

Sorry to hear you can’t plant your garden yet, but at least you got the rain. I do look forward to seeing your garden grow again.

Your little chicks do look awkward, don’t they? Ours are getting to that point. Not sure right now how old they are. I am thinking probably about 4 weeks.

Thanks, Rachel! Yes, we are thankful for the rain, but are praying for all of the people affected by the flooding. I am sure I will get the garden planted at some point.

I think our chicks are about 5 weeks old. We have had them for a little over 4 weeks, but they were already a few days to a week old when we bought them.
