My Week in Pictures (11-24-12)

We had a wonderful week and I hope you did as well.

My make-ahead Thanksgiving appeared to be a success. My guests brought lots of yummy side dishes and desserts so there was no way anyone could have gone away hungry. Here are a couple of pictures of the food (We ate buffet-style.).

As you can tell there was plenty of food. On Thanksgiving Day we not only had plenty to eat and a great time with our family, but we also enjoyed beautiful weather.

I wanted to show you a close-up of the Pilgrim hats Julia and I made. We followed the tutorial at Spoonful, but their suggestion to use toothpicks to dip the marshmallows into the melted chocolate didn’t exactly work for us.

We ended up with chocolate all over our hands. Trust me, you don’t want to hire us to dip anything in chocolate. :)

Yesterday we put up our outside Christmas lights, well my husband and the three oldest kids did. We don’t go all Clark Griswold on the house, but it is nice and bright.

Today the kids and I have been stringing popcorn for our tree and we are ready to put on the ornaments. I just love this time of year!

Here are some more pictures from our week.

It truly has been a wonderful week and I can’t believe it’s coming to an end. Here’s to making next week great, too.

How was your week?

I followed your example and made food ahead of time, albeit only one day ahead. Next year I will definitely be doing this ‘way’ ahead of time and freezing. I couldn’t believe how much less stressful my day was. Doh.

In your first pic on the left side… are those plates from a school? Looks like what we used in high school. We have only one divided plate — a cute one with dinosaurs — and our friend who is a “food separator” always gets it. She would be in heaven if we served up meals on your plates! :)

That’s great, Lynn! I have in the past started cooking about 2-3 days ahead of time, but this year was even less stressful because I did so much ahead of time. I’m glad you were able to have a less stressful day, too.

Yes, the plates were originally from a school, but I got them at a yard sale. Everyone loved them, especially JT because they held everything. He even called the silverware spot the “hors d’oeuvres slot”. :)

I hope you had a great day!

We put up our tree yesterday and I have been working on the lights for a few days. It’s tiring. My hubby had to buy a few more boxes of lights for me today. I figure we will decorate tomorrow or Monday.

It can be tiring, but I love having a tree. Right now the trouble is with Janna trying to eat the popcorn off of the tree. :)

“We don’t go all Clark Griswold…” haha, that made me laugh :)
