Individual Smoothies in Mason Jars

My family enjoys smoothies. Most of the time I make a big batch that fills my blender. However, there are some times when I want to make a smoothie for just one person.

Way back in 2009 I figured something out about my blender: quart and pint sized mason jars are a perfect fit.

When I want to make an individual smoothie, or if we all want different kinds, I simply use a pint sized mason jar (The jar I used is actually a pint sized drinking jar, but a regular mason jar works just as well.). For this smoothie I used frozen blueberries, a frozen banana, homemade yogurt, a little water, a small amount of honey, and some ground flax seed.

I would suggest not filling your jar more than 3/4 full to be sure the ingredients have room to move while they are being blended.

Next, I added the rubber seal, the blade, and the base to the jar. Then I put the jar upside down on my blender.

I let the blender do its thing for a minute or two, turned the jar right side up, and then took off the blender parts.

In just a few easy steps I was ready to sit back and enjoy my smoothie. Much healthier than those bon bons I usually eat. ;)

If you have a blender and pint sized jars lying around, you can make individual smoothies, too.

Great idea! I’ll have to try that…now off to find a jar :)

Yummy! Do you know if the mason jars fit all blenders?

Rachel, I am not 100% sure, but I am going to assume that it will work for most blenders.
