Our Family’s Favorite Meals: Roast Beef

I love using my crockpot to cook certain cuts of meat. They end up so moist and tender. Often times I will make round steak with gravy or swiss steak in my crockpot.

However, I sometimes just put salt and pepper on the meat, add a small amount of water, switch the crockpot on low, walk away, and assume it will all go according to plan.

Most of the time it does go according to plan. When I recently made this meal Joshua asked for seconds and said, “I just can’t help myself. This is such a good meal.” Music to a cook’s ears. :)

I often serve roast beef (or roast venison) with mashed potatoes, a vegetable, and a fruit. The veggie pictured above is turnip greens with diced turnips.

Do you ever use your crockpot cook a roast?

You have me drooling! Oh my, those turnip greens and turnips look yummy and I don’t even like turnips! Hah! I think we may need to try them out again. Or not, who knows? I love to see what you fix. I am still working on a good pot roast. I love pot roast! Yummy. It seems everyone else makes a good one, but I am still working on it. :-)

Thanks, Rachel! I would never have thought that we would like the turnip greens, but bacon grease makes just about everything taste better. :)
