February Quilt Blocks (Craftsy Blocks of the Month)

Yesterday I finished the two quilt blocks for Craftsy’s Block of the Month online quilting class. Last month’s blocks were the asterisk block and the wonky pound sign block.

This month I continued with the same flannel, but added another coordinating color. The blocks for this month were the Balkan puzzle block (left) and the chunky chevron block (right).

Through the class, I learned how to make half square triangles using two methods to make these blocks. I like really like how they turned out. They were more involved than last month’s blocks, but the video and course notes made it much easier.

I am really enjoying making two different blocks each month. It feels like I am quilting with a friend because of the videos. I can pause the video, do the steps, and then start it back up again. I doubt a friend would be quite so patient. ;)

If you want to learn join in the fun and learn how to make these quilt blocks it’s not too late. Simply follow these steps.

  1. Click the Craftsy banner above.
  2. Sign up for a Craftsy account if you don’t already have one.
  3. Click on the tab at the top of the website that says “Online Classes”.
  4. Scroll down until you find the graphic for the “Craftsy Block of the Month”.
  5. Enroll in the free class and then watch the video.
Have you ever made a quilt? This will be my second big quilt to make and I am excited to see how all of the different blocks will look once they are together in a quilt.

Pretty. Pretty. Pretty. I love quilts. I have an Amish quilt on my bed.

Thanks, Rachel! I love quilts, too. I just haven’t really been into making too many of them, but this is fun.
