The Lost Sock

This morning we went grocery shopping. Before we left Joseph put a bunch of his socks that are too small into a sack. For some reason he decided he wanted to take them with us. Not being sure why he chose to do this, but seeing no problem with it, I just let him bring the socks. He put them down on the truck floor under his feet and they were forgotten.

We made our first stop at Walmart. When we got back into the vehicle, I took Janna out of my sling and was getting ready to nurse her. I happened to look at her foot and noticed that there was a sock missing. I searched all around and couldn’t find it.

I looked through the diaper bag to find the extra pair I always keep in the bag only to find that I must have taken the extra socks out. If it were summer this wouldn’t have been a big deal, but considering it was an extremely cold day I didn’t want my baby’s foot to be frozen.

I contemplated running back into Walmart to buy some socks, when a bag behind me caught my eye. Inside it were the socks Joseph had insisted on bringing. I grabbed a pair and put them on Janna. They were a little big, but definitely were good enough to keep her little foot warm.

What a blessing that bag of socks turned out to be. How wonderful that God used my little boy as His instrument of provision. He knew my needs even before I did. I am thankful for the lost sock because it has provided me not only with a chance to praise God for His blessings but to share with you just how much He loves and cares for each of us, even a little baby with a missing sock.

what a sweet story and testimony of God’s provision. He uses us…no matter what our status in life. I bet your little boy learned something from this as well!
    Thanks for sharing.

It is amazing how God works at times. I know mine were always losing socks. It is frustrating. I finally decided that those little leather moccasins were a good investment. They are snug around the ankle and keep the socks on. I love the moccasins since I don’t buy baby shoes. I find it a waste of money. Now, my youngest is 1 and has no shoes…I keep putting it off, but I really need to buy something for her feet. She has moccasins, but they don’t work when your little one wants to play in snow.

Rachel, I don’t put shoes on my babies either. The moccasins sound like a good idea, though. I am going to have to come up with something.
