Fun with My Four Year Old

Yesterday Joseph and I played with some play dough. He wanted to make “cinnamon rolls” because that is what I had made for us to eat the morning before.

As we were “baking” I was reminded about how much children act out the world around them through their play. I don’t think there is enough emphasis placed on play in the early years. A child’s imagination is a wonderful thing and has the ability to transform ordinary objects into something extraordinarily fun.

For example, just after our “cinnamon rolls” were finished, our pie pans became musical instruments.

Janna and I took great delight in marching around after Joseph who was happily singing and playing the “symbols”.

As I try to determine what to do about my preschool blog, I plan to periodically post activities for 0-5 year olds here. I have struggled for the past few months with trying to keep up with more than one blog. Since I am a mom to a baby and a preschooler it only seems natural to share here about the activities I do with them. I hope you will enjoy seeing yet another aspect of our lives.

I hope you keep your preschool blog, even if you don’t update it often. I use it often for ideas to use with my preschoolers in my daycare. It helps me so much!

Thank you, Penny! I wouldn’t get rid of my preschool blog, but I am considering trying to mesh it with this blog in some way. It is something I have been thinking and praying about for several months, but don’t have a clear-cut answer on what to do.
