Clean Kitchen Days: Organize All Drawers

Yesterday I laid out a plan for how I will go about cleaning and organizing my kitchen. Today I cleaned out and organized all of my kitchen drawers.

I didn’t purchase anything new for this project. Sometimes it is easy to think that we need to run out and buy the latest organizational products in order to have an organized home. However, I try to use things I already have in order to save money. Take the drawer pictured below, for example.

I grabbed a few assorted empty containers I had in our basement and put them to use in my utensil drawer. Sure, it isn’t pretty, but it is much more organized, which was my goal. How often do people come over to your house and open your kitchen drawers to see if you have the latest in organizational products anyway. :-)

Here are two of my drawers before and after I cleaned and organized them. I feel much better about them and even moved some drawer contents to other drawers in an effort to be more efficient.

Since I have quite a few cabinets, I decided to start cleaning and organizing my cabinets this afternoon. I am about halfway finished and will finish the rest tomorrow. I am so glad I am spreading out this kitchen cleaning process.

Did you clean out your kitchen drawers today? Did you find anything interesting? I found a used bandaid in one drawer. Gross!

I clean and then a child moves our and another takes their space. It seems that nothing every stays organized. I guess we just need to take it one day at a time.

I hear you, Debbie. I think you are right about taking it one day at a time. That goes for everything, I guess. I am not sure I will ever be totally organized, but I will keep trying.

Eww…yes, I find old food crumbs in my drawers.

Don’t you love little baskets and bins? I do. Now if I could just have a few more drawers to organize…and bigger ones at that.

    Good job Jackie!

I get food in some of my drawers, too. :) Yes, I do think little baskets/bins are very helpful, and I do agree that more drawers would be, too.

cool. I had done this recently and I was excited to realize that about 90% of what I have I use every week (since I have cut down.) I cook a lot from scratch so I use lots of utensils. Drawers are still pretty neat at my house, hope yours saty that way too.

That’s great, Becky! I didn’t have to get rid of any utensils either since I do a lot of cooking, too. I hope my drawers stay neat, too. :)
