A Little Love Note

Last night we were watching a family movie. I had noticed that Joshua was busily writing something, but wasn’t sure what it could be. All of a sudden he jumped up and handed me a little note.

The present he was referring to was a big hug. He gave one to my husband, Janna and me. When he sat back down to watch the movie he looked over at me. I told him thank you for the hug and smiled at him. He got the biggest smile on his face. It was such a precious moment.

I think I may have mentioned that one of my goals for this year is to read through the Bible by reading for 15 minutes each day. I have finished reading Genesis and Exodus and have been reading Leviticus the past few days. This part of the Bible can be so hard to get through because of all of the specifications God gave for the building of the Tabernacle and for making offerings to Him.

I have also been reading The Jesus Storybook Bible to the kids. Each of the stories makes reference to Jesus. Reading it has helped me to look at the part of the Bible I am currently reading in a whole new light.

Jesus died for our sins so that we don’t have to make all of the offerings to God that the Israelites had to. What a wonderful gift God gave us when He sent His Son to die for our sins.

Joshua’s little note makes me want to read the Bible like I did his little love note. I want to smile and daily thank God for His word, His love note, the Bible.

Have you looked into using the NKJV Chronological Bible for your Bible reading? I got that version as a Christmas present last year, and over the past 13 months I finally completed my goal of reading through the whole Bible cover to cover (well, I have 4 pages left as of right now-close enough!) I found that using the Chronological version helped me get through the tougher parts of the Old Testament. You don’t feel like you’re drudging through the logistics of the lineages and the specifics of tabernacle building, just to have to drudge through them all over again in the next book- Chronicles vs Kings, for example. And you can compare the two writers’ perspectives on each topic at the same time. Just something for you to consider checking out. I keep meaning to bring that up to you but just haven’t gotten around to it until now!

I have seen the reading plans for chronological reading, but have never done that. So the Bible you have actually has everything in the correct order so you don’t have to switch back and forth? If so, that sounds much better than flipping all over. I will have to definitely consider getting one of those. I think it would be a nice thing to do next year. Thanks for letting me know about it. Congratulations on reading through the Bible! :)

Yes, the Bible is actually printed in chronological order. Makes it terrible to use for looking up random passages, but is perfect to do a reading plan. I also like that it has many side notes on the historical significance of events in the Bible and compares them to concurrent world events. Very enlightening and helpful to understand how Christianity fit into the context of world history. I have been very thankful for this version! I know the Open Door has it, because I bought Elias a copy there.

That sounds awesome! I will add that to my wish list. :) Thanks, Sara!

Thank you, Becky. I haven’t ever received a hate note, but I am definitely saving this note to show him later, too. :)
