11 Weeks to a More Organized Life & Home: Week 8 (Do 1 load of laundry per day.)

Thank you for joining me for week 8 of trying to get my life and home more organized.

This week I will be focusing on laundry. Clothes seem to be the bane of my existence. We need them, but they seem to multiply in my laundry room.

I wrote a post back in June about laundry that you might wish to peruse. It highlights some posts I have written over the years on the subject.

Before Janna was born I was on top of the laundry. When I went to bed each night I only had a few pieces of clothing that needed to be washed. I even was able to keep up with everything for a time after she was born.

However, as the months have passed my old habits have returned.

This is on a good day.

Dirty laundry piles up. I wash and dry a load or two, or ten. I put the clean clothes on the couch or in our bedroom until I have time to fold them and put them away. Then, I have to spend an hour folding and putting the clothes away. Some clothes even have to go back into the dryer to be de-wrinkled.

It seems that my laundry room is always full of dirty clothes and other parts of the house are full of clean clothes, but the clothes have a hard time making it into their proper homes (drawers and/or closets).

I have tried doing all of the laundry in one day, but that doesn’t work. I have skipped a day here and there, but that doesn’t work either. So, I am going to make my task simple this week.

Do 1 load of laundry, from start to finish, each day. That means wash, dry, fold, and put away the load. No more laying clothes on the couch until a later time.

I am hopeful that by just doing 1 load of laundry I will be able to keep up with the laundry and avoid “Mt. Washmore”.

Who’s with me?

I will also be adding one more glass of water to my daily routine to bring me to a total of 5 (8 oz.) glasses per day.
