11 Weeks to a More Organized Life & Home: Week 6 (Keep Bathrooms “Company Ready”)

Thank you for joining me for week 6 of trying to get my life and home organized. This week I am going to start focusing on my home, specifically my bathrooms.

We have three bathrooms in our house. Yes, I know, I am very fortunate. However, for most of my growing up years, four of us shared one bathroom. So, I know what that is like, too.

As nice as having three bathrooms for seven people is, it means there are three bathrooms to clean. Having more of something doesn’t necessarily make life easier. Does that make sense?

I am pretty good at keeping our main bathroom clean and “company ready”. Basically, I mean that if someone came over and needed to use the bathroom (usually it’s my husband’s step-mom), I wouldn’t be embarrassed to have them use it.

I also was good about keeping our basement bathroom clean when I had the preschool. However, our master bath is often another story. No one, outside of those of us who live here, uses it.

My goal for this week will be to thoroughly clean each of our bathrooms and have them “company ready” by Thanksgiving, when we will have a house full of people here.

One easy way I keep our main bathroom clean each day is to take the hand towel from the day before and use it to wipe down the counters and toilet. Then, I set out a new hand towel. I learned this from the Flylady. She calls it “swish and swipe” if I remember correctly.

Someone on Facebook recently asked me if I followed the Flylady. I did try when James was a baby 9 years ago, but there were just too many emails and the pace was too fast, too many new routines in too short of a time.

That has been the problem with all of the organizational systems I have tried. They were too fast paced and had me burnt out very quickly. I have found I need to go slower. That is why I started this eleven week series.

Keeping my bathrooms clean and ready for whoever needs to use them is my goal for this week as well as drinking three glasses of water each day. I’ll let you know how I do. Will you be joining me with these tasks this week?

Here is a printable checklist for this week if you want to follow along with me.

This sounds like a good one! I will join you. Though at the moment I think we are needing to call a plumber because even though we have tried various things our upstairs toilet (the kids bathroom ) is not working. So that makes it a little less company ready but I will work on all the other areas.
