Sunday I told you about my goal for this week of getting dressed (nicely) and fixing my hair each morning. So far so good, but it has been so tempting the past two days to just stay in my old clothes.
This afternoon I decided to take all of the clothes out of my closet. I did this about seven months ago and donated two huge garbage bags full of clothes. I have no idea where all of the clothes come from. Are they multiplying in my closet? Well, maybe I do know the real reason. I never get rid of any of them.
Even though I gave away so many clothes before Janna was born check out what I just pulled out of my closet. Warning: This isn’t everything. There are still clothes in the laundry room and in drawers.
Some of those clothes are my maternity clothes. Um, Janna is 6 months old. Time to put those in storage.
I have a lot of old clothes that are not fit to wear anywhere, but I still have them for times when I need clothes that it won’t be a problem to ruin. However, how many items do I need like that? Shorts with the elastic wearing through the fabric, some random stained shirts…
…a whole drawer of paint clothes. I can’t image that I need more than two outfits for painting/dirty projects. I need to seriously get rid of some of these clothes. I can turn them into rags and use the good parts for sewing projects.
Any clothes that I don’t see myself wearing need to be donated. There are people in this world who would love to have my “problem” of too many clothes.
Money Saving Mom wrote about having a minimalist wardrobe and I really want to think through my clothes. I am not sure I am ready to go quite as minimal as she does, but it is definitely food for thought.
Crystal linked to a site for a free color analysis that I tried. You have to enter your name and email address. I thought it was fun to see what the suggestions were for me.
Based on my results determined by the hair color, eye color and skin tone information I entered, I am considered a “clear”. It gave me some wardrobe suggestions. Black, navy and charcoal gray are supposed to be the best neutrals for me and white is better than ivory. It also said that bright hues are best for clothes with color to coordinate with the neutrals.
I think I will try to consider this information as I look through my wardrobe. Tomorrow I hope to post some pictures of the clothes I have decided to keep and wear. Maybe I will get industrious and even take pictures of the combinations I choose. (Baby steps, Jackie!)
