Just when it seemed Julia might be an only child, I found out I was pregnant.

Five months of hives,

lower back/tailbone pain,

a surprise, natural, breech birth,

hospitalization at 1 year old for breathing issues,

tantrums,

challenges,

his tears and worries (and mine).

Our first son who bears the name of his father and grandfather has given us a run for our money during his nine years.

However, any trying times have been completely overshadowed by…

smiles,

laughter,

knock-knock jokes,

inventions,

countless Lego creations,

stories, oh the stories,

hugs,

kisses,

wanting to be just like his daddy, uncle, and grandpas,

persistence,

love.

This boy of mine is so much like me and yet so much like his father all in one person. I am not sure how that can even be but, somehow, he is.

I pray that his daddy and I will be able to guide him as he grows to be the man I know God intends for him to be.

No matter how big he gets he will always be my little James (the 3rd).

Thank you so much, Katie! He was trying to look like a tough cowboy because he had just been learning about cowboys. :)
