A few years ago my mom, clever and crafty lady that she is, turned a two-liter pop bottle into a drip catcher for a 2 gallon drink dispenser.
When we hosted a party recently I wanted to do the same thing, but I didn’t have any two-liter bottles. However, I did have a couple of empty water bottles.
So, I cut them up and turned them into drip catchers. I think a two-liter bottle is preferable, but these got the job done. My garage floor wasn’t a sticky mess. Yay!
Did you know that you can actually buy a drip catcher? Check this out. My version may not be as pretty, but hey, they were free. By using something that was headed for the recycling bin I saved $7 per drip catcher.
Update: I guess I should say how I did this. I used a sharp knife to make a hole in the bottle so that I could use my scissors. Then I cut off the top of the bottle and made a hole in the back of the bottle, large enough to fit over the spout of the drink dispenser. Finally, I cut down the sides and front of the bottle so that there was just a little rim in the front. I hope that makes sense. It was really hard to get a good shot of the bottle since it was clear and kept reflecting the light.
