Good morning! It is time for Fix It Up Friday again. I am so glad to have you join me.
I have been blogging for almost 4 years. When I started this blog I thought that I might just use it for our family. Then I decided to use it as a way to keep track of crafty projects I had completed.
For a long time I only let a few people read it. Two and a half years ago I made it public instead of private. I have shared many things with those of you who stop by to read what I have to say. I appreciate each one of you and thank you for allowing me to be so random.
For example, I was looking over my old posts and realized I have talked quite a bit about laundry. I guess it is a big part of my life. There are seven of us now and we create quite a bit of it.
So, I decided to highlight a couple of my laundry posts today. I think organizing my laundry room and folding and putting away piles of laundry that cover my couch count as “fixing it up”. Don’t you? :)
A couple of years ago I came up with an organizational system for our dirty laundry that has, for the most part, worked for us. I have a laundry basket for dark clothes, light clothes, towels and a bucket for cloth diapers. I even printed out pictures, laminated them and hung them above (or on) the baskets to make it easier for my family to sort their clothes.
I wanted to share the link to the post I wrote about my laundry room and organizational system. It was entitled Everyday Blessings and was just the reminder I needed today.
I love hanging laundry on the clothesline. While it is the “green” thing to do that isn’t really the reason I enjoy hanging out the wash. I think I like it the most because it is a connection to the past. I am sure that my grandmothers, my great grandmothers and so on used to hang out their clothes. I wonder what they were like when they were my age. What did they enjoy doing? Did they feel burdened by the chore or did they feel like they were blessing their family?
These are the kinds of things I think about sometimes. Do you ever wonder about the women who blazed the trail for us?
Anyway, I wanted to remind you about a tutorial I created last year. This placemat clothespin bag is easy to sew and a great way to store clothespins.
Do you have a pile of unmatched socks lying around? I have seen some cute ways that people are storing them, like a small clothesline in their laundry room. However, I came up with a bag on a hook. I thought I was pretty clever.
I made it on the embroidery machine, but I think it could be done with an iron on transfer or fabric markers if you had the patience to write the saying. I made up the saying when all of the commercials were out for internet dating services.
Sometimes I attempt to be funny.
Finally, if any of you out there struggle with keeping up with the laundry I thought I would share this post with you that I wrote. ”The laundry is piled high , but I am thankful.” Maybe it will give you a little encouragement to keep trying to tame Mt. Washmore each day.
Now, it is your turn to link up your creative posts. I look forward to seeing all of your great ideas. The guidelines for linking up are here.
I am not sure I am doing a very good job at promoting this link party. The amount of people participating has been pretty sparse. If you have a post to share please feel free to link it up below. Also, if you have suggestions for how to spread the word, I am open to hearing your ideas.
